Case status tracking automation for law firms

Litigation teams live by the diary. Every evening someone checks the cause lists, every morning someone confirms which court and item number each matter is listed at, and after every hearing someone records the next date and downloads the order. Finaley AI Studio takes over this tracking across all your courts and tribunals, keeps the internal diary and matter records current, and puts anything that creates a deadline in front of an advocate.

A missed listing is costly and easy to miss

A practice may appear before district courts, several High Courts, NCLT, consumer commissions and arbitral tribunals, each publishing listings in its own format and at its own time. Clerks copy entries into a diary by hand, case numbers get mistyped, and an advanced listing or a transferred bench can slip through. Orders sit unread on court websites while limitation periods for appeals and compliance run. Partners then have no reliable view of what is listed this week across the firm.

How the automation runs

  1. 1

    Build the matter list

    AI agent

The agent loads your active matters with case numbers, courts, benches, vakalatnama details and the advocates responsible for each one.

  2. 2

    Read the cause lists

    AI agent

Each evening it reads daily, supplementary and advance cause lists for every relevant court and matches entries to your matters, including renumbered cases.

  3. 3

    Update the firm diary

    AI agent

It writes the listing, court room, item number and bench into your diary and calendar, and alerts the assigned advocate and clerk.

  4. 4

    Capture outcomes and orders

    AI agent

After the hearing it checks eCourts and court websites for the next date and the uploaded order, then files the order against the matter.

  5. 5

    Advocate confirms deadlines

    Professional check

Where an order sets a compliance date or starts a limitation period, an advocate reads the order and confirms the deadline before it enters the diary.

  6. 6

    Report to partners

    AI agent

A weekly view shows listings, adjournments, pending orders and upcoming deadlines by partner, court and client, ready for the practice meeting.

Fits the diary you already keep

Some firms track matters in a practice management system, others in Excel, a Google Sheet or a shared Outlook calendar. Finaley updates whichever of these your team relies on, and reads court data from eCourts services and the official websites of the courts you appear before. Your matter numbering and diary format stay unchanged.

Dates from orders are confirmed by a lawyer

Listings and next dates are recorded as published, but anything that depends on reading an order, such as a direction to file within a set period, is checked by an advocate before it becomes a diary deadline. The automation does not interpret orders or give legal advice.

What you get

  • A diary that matches the published cause lists each morning
  • Orders filed against the matter soon after they are uploaded
  • Compliance and appeal deadlines confirmed by an advocate
  • A firm-wide view of listings for partners

Questions

Is this the same as sending clients updates on WhatsApp?

No. This is the firm's internal tracking: reading cause lists, updating the diary, filing orders and confirming deadlines for your own lawyers. Client messaging can be added on top, but this page is about keeping the firm's own records accurate across every court you appear in.

Which courts and tribunals can it follow?

It reads sources that publish listings and orders online, such as eCourts services, High Court websites and tribunal portals. During setup we check each forum your matters are in. Where a forum does not publish online, the automation flags those matters for your clerk to update.

What if a case number changes after transfer or registration?

Renumbering is common, so the agent matches on parties, earlier numbers and filing details as well as the case number. When it cannot be sure an entry belongs to your matter, it asks the assigned clerk or advocate rather than guessing.

Can it handle advance and supplementary lists?

Yes. It reads advance lists to give early notice, then confirms against the daily and supplementary lists the evening before. If a matter appears on a supplementary list late, the assigned advocate and clerk are alerted straight away.

Can we see what it checked each day?

Yes. Every run is recorded with the lists and pages it read, the matters it matched and the diary entries it changed. If a listing is ever questioned, you can trace exactly where the information came from and when it was recorded.
