Collections follow-up automation for lenders

Most overdue EMIs are paid after a timely, polite reminder. The hard part is sending the right message to thousands of borrowers every day, tracking who promised to pay, and spotting who needs a human conversation. Finaley AI Studio handles that routine follow-up for lenders, working from your loan management system and contact rules, so collection officers spend their day on accounts where a person genuinely needs to talk to the borrower.

Early buckets swallow the collections team

Each morning the overdue list grows. Callers work through accounts in one or two DPD buckets, repeating the same reminder script, and then type outcomes into a tracker. Promises to pay are forgotten, receipts posted late leave paid customers still getting calls, and accounts sliding toward NPA receive no more attention than those that will pay tomorrow. Borrowers notice the confusion, and so do auditors.

How the automation runs

  1. 1

    Build the daily overdue list

    AI agent

Accounts are pulled from your LMS each morning and grouped into DPD buckets, with any already paid or under restructuring removed.

  2. 2

    Send reminders by bucket

    AI agent

Borrowers receive SMS, WhatsApp or email reminders matched to their bucket, with the EMI amount, due date and a payment link.

  3. 3

Log replies and promises to pay

    AI agent

Replies such as a promised date or a dispute are recorded against the loan, and a check is set for that date.

  4. 4

    Match receipts to accounts

    AI agent

Incoming payments from UPI, NACH and branch deposits are matched to loans so paid borrowers are not contacted again.

  5. 5

    Officer handles sensitive cases

    Professional check

Disputes, hardship requests, repeated broken promises and later buckets go to a collections officer, who speaks with the borrower directly.

  6. 6

    Report the day's position

    AI agent

Managers receive a daily summary of reminders sent, promises recorded, payments received and accounts awaiting an officer.

Connected to your LMS and payment channels

Finaley reads loan and overdue data from the loan management system you already use and writes outcomes back to it. Messages go through your existing SMS gateway or WhatsApp Business account, using templates you have approved. Payment matching uses the bank and payment gateway reports your finance team downloads today.

Contact rules come from your policy, not ours

Contact hours, message frequency, wording and escalation points are set from your collections policy and fair practices code. The automation never threatens, negotiates settlements or offers waivers. Any borrower who raises a complaint, mentions hardship or asks to speak to someone is passed straight to an officer.

What you get

  • Timely reminders for every early-bucket account
  • Promises to pay tracked and followed up on the date
  • Paid borrowers no longer receiving reminder calls
  • Officers spending time on accounts that need a conversation

Questions

Can the automation agree to a settlement or waiver?

No. Settlements, waivers and restructuring are decisions for your authorised officers under your policy. If a borrower raises any of these, the conversation is handed to a person with the full account history, and the automation sends nothing further until the officer acts.

Which DPD buckets is this suited to?

It works best for pre-due and early buckets, where most accounts settle after a clear reminder. You choose the point at which accounts move to human-only handling. Later buckets can still use automated receipt matching and reporting while officers do all the contact.

How do you keep messages respectful?

Every template is written with your team and approved before use. Messages state the amount, due date and how to pay, nothing more. Contact limits per day and allowed hours follow your policy, and borrowers can always reply to reach a person.

Can it work with our field collection agents?

Yes. Accounts that your policy sends for a field visit can be listed for your agents each morning, and their visit notes are recorded back on the loan. The automation does not replace those visits; it keeps the record tidy around them.

How do we get started?

Show us a collections caller working the overdue list, through a screen recording or a call, and share your reminder templates. We build the follow-up on that pattern, test it on past overdue accounts, and go live once results match your team's work.
